The Bible Unpacked Episode 4- Cradle of Humanity

Lightning flashed and the skies roared as the words of the multitude echoed about the Earth.

“It is time” said He who stood on the Earth. “Let us make human beings in our image to be like us. They will be rulers of the fish of the sea, the birds in the air, and every living thing that inhabits the Earth.”

So, He who came from the light created mankind in His own Holy image, in the image of Himself, He created them. Male and Female, He created them. Then the Lord God Almighty blessed every living thing He had created saying “Be fruitful and multiply!” To the man he said; “Reign over the fish of the ocean, the birds of the air, and everything that makes its home on the soil. I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the Earth and all of the luscious fruit trees for your food. I have given every green plant as food for the wild animals, the birds of the sky, and the creatures of the Earth- everything that has the breath of life within it.”

And so it was. Then God wrapped Himself up in the white light and rose above the Earth. His eyes searched the vastness of His creation as he took in everything that he had made. He looked into the deep tropics and saw the colorful fish scurry about the reefs searching for a place to call home. The mighty sharks sniffed around the mammoth undersea rock formations looking for caves on the seabed to nest in. In the North, under green and pink lights, penguins took turns diving into the frigid waters from their perch upon an icy shore. The savannah pounded with the sound of a thousand gazelles charging across its vast openness in search of a watering hole. Elephants were busy learning to use their trunks to reach leaves and berries from high trees. Above all the hustle and bustle of the new planet that was bursting with life, the silvery stars twinkled marking a pathway back to Heavenly places.

The man sat alone on top of a grassy hill, not far from where he had been created and watched the white light fade into the night sky. He didn’t understand much about anything, after all, it had only been a few hours since he had first felt air fill his lungs and his eyes had opened to an odd green and blue place filled with strange looking creatures, among which, he considered himself the strangest. The One who made him, the Man in the white light, was the only being that looked like him. The One in the light had introduced Himself as “God” and he had called the man “Adam”. God had welcomed Adam to the world and shown him the many things that had been created for him. Adam was told he was to be a ruler of this place. This grassy, sweet-smelling landscape was to be Adam’s kingdom. Adam felt something when the Man in the White light had placed his had upon his back. Everything was foreign to Adam, but this sensation stood out from all the others that pounded on the door of his mind demanding attention. This one emotion didn’t need explanation as the others did. It was rich, pure, and good.

“Was that it? Was it goodness?” Adam thought to himself as he buried his toes in the cool dirt. A black and white creature nudged Adam’s hand asking softly to be pet. Adam scratched the tiny animal behind its ears much to its enjoyment. “No, it’s not goodness” he thought “this world and its creatures are good. That man, that God, He is good, but He’s something more than good.” Adam lay back in the soft grass and watched the lesser light rise in the night sky. He would wait here for God to return. The small black and white animal scurried away from the man and down the grassy hill where he transformed into a tall human-like creature with prominent features, golden hair, and sapphire eyes.

“Love is the word you’re searching for, friend” Lucifer whispered softly as he walked away from the hill on which the man slept. “Your King loves you, that is why He created all of this beauty for you. I know how you feel. He did the same thing for me. I was as amazed as you are.” Lucifer stooped down near a brook and let the cool water run over his hand. “Let’s see how long it takes you to despise Him” he said chuckling to himself softly. Evening passed and morning came marking the sixth and final day of creation.
